The Urban Works Agency, supported by a NSF Grant to encourage Science in the Studio, is pleased to present a guest lecture by hydrological specialist, Julian Fulton.

Julian Fulton is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Environmental Science and Policy at UC Davis. He completed his PhD with the Energy and Resources Group at UC Berkeley and also received an MSc in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a BA in International Development Studies from the same university. Julian spent a year studying flood management in the Netherlands with a Fulbright Fellowship and he has a professional background in project management. Julian’s research interests to-date have centered on the connections between California’s management and use of water resources, on the one hand, and social change and economic globalization on the other. In particular, he has studied how California’s water footprint the amount of water required to produce the food, fuel, fiber, and industrial products consumed in California has changed over the past quarter-century. Julian has contributed his work to academic journals, newspapers, policy reports, the California Water Plan, and most recently to a new edited volume entitled Sustainable Water: Challenges and Solutions from California.
