Berta Lazaro is a founding member of TEAMLABS, an educational company that designs, launches and implements business ecosystems that integrate educative programs, innovation spaces, entrepreneurial laboratories and start-up environments with companies to overcome open innovation projects. She started TEAMLABS based on her curiosity about alternative educational methods and her experience with youth in citizen engagement processes. She also applies Collaborative Design methods to transform cities, public spaces and communities with Ph+ Citizen Urbanism, a company she founded in 2011. This combination of different projects provides the foundation of her work on experimental applied research in the urban realm: a contribution to the physical, social, cultural and economical ecosystem of the 21st century. In Madrid, Berta started the first generation of the entrepreneurial university degree LEINN as part of the Mondragon Team Academy. With the student entrepreneurs at LEINN, she is creating and maintaining a pioneer culture of a company, a community, a project and a common dream. She sees her educational or architectural projects as tools for social transformation and global change.
Mondragon Team Academy (MTA) is a global community of social entrepreneurs and change leaders that embody a team based approach to learning, leadership and entrepreneurship. Inspired by the foundations of Mondragon, largest worker owned business group in the world and often said as the most successful case of social innovation, MTA combines Finnish learning methods with the creation of co-ops & collaborative innovation as the source for social and economical development. MTA was awarded by Ashoka recently as a referent model for the future of education.
