Speakers Bio:
Gene Becker is a leader in emerging technologies that blend the physical and digital worlds. As Layars US-based AR Strategist, Gene is responsible for building the creative ecosystem for the Layar augmented reality platform, working with brands, creative agencies, developers and grassroots AR enthusiasts. Prior to joining Layar, Gene was a director at Hewlett-Packard, where he led advanced research and business development for web-based mobile and ubiquitous computing, co-founded a cloud services business, and led worldwide R&D for extreme gaming and mobility brand Voodoo PC. Gene studied engineering and computer science at MIT and Stanford, and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Michael Reilly is a Principal Researcher in the Bay Area Metropolitan Government, a private-sector consultant, and a university researcher and lecturer. His work centers on the interaction between cities and the natural environment through applications of integrated urban-transport modeling, city and regional planning, and spatial analysis. His academic training was at UC Berkeley, Columbia University, and Stanford University.
Sha Hwang studied and worked in architecture at IwamotoScott and MESH Architectures before diving headfirst into data visualization at Stamen Design. At Stamen Sha worked on projects for clients like CNN, MTV, Adobe, and Flickr. Last year, Sha cofounded a startup called Movity focused on visualization and cities. Movity was recently acquired by the real estate company Trulia to bring their work to a national audience. Sha is endlessly fascinated by maps, data, design, and cities.
